Renaissance Finishes + Contemporary Design

3 Day Workshop | August 28-30, 2017 | Special Guest Lecturer: Alison Woolley

We are thrilled to welcome Alison Woolley of Florence, Italy to teach this new workshop using early Renaissance techniques of gesso grounds, rich pigment colours, gilded surfaces, polish and patina, to create finishes that are both timeless and contemporary.
Learn to use traditional Florentine materials such as gilders gesso, earth pigments and oxides, natural paint mediums, waxes and polishes to create the beautiful rich patterns and finishes seen in early Renaissance art. The beauty of these materials has never been surpassed for creating outstanding furniture pieces, frames, and decorative panels that will attract attention in the most refined contemporary interiors.

  • Combine this class with the Florentine Gilding Techniques for a more comprehensive course in surface decoration and finishing.

    Class Fee

    $950.
    includes project panels; detailed notes; all project materials used in class including casein paints, natural pigments, gesso, and metal leaf.

Classes emphasize traditional techniques and materials and practical methods.
