First, I recommend looking at the location of my studio on this map: Lynne Rutter Studio. Also, the city is only 7 miles wide, so being “across town” is not really that far.
I recommend that you obtain your reservations well in advance. San Francisco is a busy city with many events that can affect the cost of hotel rooms.
Home Rentals:
AirBnB.com or VRBO.com have many listings in residential settings. You can rent an apartment, maybe a larger one to share, or just find a room for yourself. To find something in easy walking distance to the studio, search for "Potrero Hill" or "Dogpatch" in the zip code 94107, and compare to my studio location.
Hotels:
The nearest hotels are LUMA Hotel and Hotel Via which are close to the baseball park about 1 mile from the studio. You may look in the Union Square or Embarcadero areas for the most hotel choices with easy transportation to the studio. Websites like Booking.com have everything from hostels to luxury resorts to apartment rentals, and you may search by budget and location.
Transportation:
Renting a car is not necessary! The trolley “T” line stops directly in front of my studio, and connects to Union Square. You can even stay in North Beach, walk into Chinatown to get this light rail and be to the studio wihtin 40 minutes. A MUNI Mobile Pass can allow you to get a single ride, a day pass, or a one week visitor pass at a great discount, to use on all city transportation.
If you are in a hurry, Uber, Lyft, and Flywheel apps are a great way to get a quick ride to the studio, and cost between $6 and $15 depending on the time of day or how far you are going. You can even get a driverless Waymo here if you are feeling adventurous!
If you are driving, there is a parking lot for $20 per, day directly behind my building at 901 Illinois. Use the Spot Hero app to find parking nearby.
I want you have a good experience in my home city, so please do feel free to contact me if you are unsure about a place or its location or need any assistance with your travel plans.
I look forward to welcoming you to the studio!
~Lynne
